First Quilt Show of 2009

Just returned from the most wonderful weekend in Penticton, BC (about a 4 hour drive from my home). I was very honoured when the Penticton Quilt Guild chose my Cabin Fever pattern to stitch for the raffle quilt at their spring show. Since I'd never exhibited at a show in that part of BC before, I decided to participate in their Merchant Mall. Here's a picture of the Cabin Fever raffle quilt. Didn't they do an amazing job? I also was asked to draw the winning ticket--another honour.

The quilt car greeted the visitors to the show, which was very well attended.

This was my booth in the show. The merchants were placed right in the middle of the quilts on display which brought a lot of visitors through my booth and also let me feast my eyes on some beautiful quilts all day.

My sisters came with me and found time to cross-stitch and rug-hook in between cutting fabric.

How neat to see one of my quilt patterns, Now I Know My ABCs, made for someone's grandson and displayed in the show!

I loved this amazing pineapple quilt--it has over 6600 pieces!!!

Thanks to all of you who came by and said hi and told me you had made my patterns. Your words of encouragement meant a lot to me. It was a wonderful time.

Easter Weekend

Happy Easter, everyone!

This weekend, after church and two family gatherings with lots of wonderful food, I managed to finish up two projects. First was a spring door hanger pattern from Tennessee Ridge primitives, now hanging on my front door.

And second was a pillow cover made from my hand-dyed wool. I love how this turned out. Now, should I make it into a pattern?

This week I'll be packing up my truck and driving to Penticton, BC, along with my two sisters, to exhibit in a guild show there. If you're in the area, come by and say hi!

Weekend Quilting Getaway

For several years now, a group of us have rented a cabin on Cultus Lake, about a 30 minute drive from my place, for an annual spring getaway. We bring along whatever project we're working on, videos to watch, wonderful food and wine, and lots to talk about. Last weekend we were blessed with sunshine (always a bonus in BC) and I was reminded that this really is a beautiful part of the world. Here are some pictures.

These women were out on the lake early Saturday morning, one of the Abreast in a Boat dragonboat teams for breast cancer survivors. You can read more about it on these links:

Saturday morning breakfast--crepes with whipped cream and strawberries, fruit, and sausages.

Laura's beautiful quilt top--aren't the colours gorgeous? I wish I knew the name of the pattern designer so I could give her credit.
