A Quilty Event--more fun in Kansas City!

Kansas City Star Publishers have their offices just blocks from the Convention Center in Kansas City where Quilt Market was held last weekend. They invited their authors and shop owners who sell their books to attend "A Quilty Event", celebrating their involvement in the quilting industry. The reception included a display of over 150 quilts from their books. Oh my, the eye candy!  What a thrill to see these gorgeous quilts in person!
 Like these from Barb Adams:
Celebration of American Life,
 Peppermint and Holly,

 Love Letters,

 Garden Glow,

  and Trick or Treat.
From Alma Allen:
Feather Your Nest
and No Place Like Home.
 From Maggie Bonanomi:

 O'Bed
 and Buttonwood bedcovers.
From Linda Brannock:
 American Beauty.
From Betsy Chutchian:
 Hourglass.
From Lynda Hall:
 A Little Porch Time.
From Bonnie Hunter:
Pineapple Crazy.
(Look at the size of those pieces!)
From Edie McGinnis:
Bird in a Cherry Tree.
From Jan Patek:
Across the Wide Missouri
and We Gather Together.
From Jeanne Poore:
 Star Steppin'.
From Laurie Simpson:
Victory Girls.
And this designer's work looks vaguely familiar...

my Welcome Home quilt.
 Barbara Brackman contributed this quilt:
Death Becomes Her.
(Warning: if you're a Sunbonnet Sue fan, you might find the following blocks offensive!
I, personally find them hilarious--but then, I do have a bent sense of humour.)

Doug Weaver, Publisher of Kansas City Star, welcomed us to the reception.
after which, we wined and dined.
A wonderful evening!

To Market, to Market

Hi from Kansas City!
I'm at Quilt Market this weekend, promoting my upcoming book in Martingale's booth.
I
If this quilting thing doesn't work out, maybe I could be another Vanna?
Karen and Mary from Martingale--they're just the best to work with!
There it is!  My book, my book!
Who is this person with my name and why are all these people lined up to see her?
After the book signing it was time to wander the aisles...
Who knew these guys were quilters?
Some of my favourite designers... JoAnn Mulally,
Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings,
and Jan Patek.
I AM NOT WORTHY!
To give you an idea of the size of this place,
here I am looking one direction from the center point,
And looking in the other direction.
32 aisles with about 34 booths on both sides!
No wonder my feet hurt.
I loved the quilts in this booth.
Look at the size of these blocks--and all hand stitched!
Karen Styles of Somerset Designs in Australia, made this stunning quilt.
It took my breath away.

It's been a long day... more to come!

A Wonderful Quilt Show

I love quilt shows!  (I know... what a shock!)
This past weekend I was a vendor at the Langley Quilters' Guild Show,
about 30 minutes from where I live.

After setting up my booth, it was time to browse.
Here's a sampling of the beautiful works on display.

A mother made this quilt for her son's wedding.
Sentiments written by the guests were incorporated into the back.
Here's a closeup of the beautiful detailing on this quilt.
And here's why you should think twice before downsizing your stash!
I love the way this log-cabin pineapple quilt seems to glow.
And this quilt is embellished with lots of hand-embroidery.
I love the black!
Here's a closeup of a prize-winning quilt.
It's always fun to find a few of my patterns made by other quilters!
Some in wool felt...

and my "Around the Block" BOM, made by Liz da Silva.
Liz's mother Marie, made this masterpiece,
even more amazing when you read the caption.
And if that wasn't enough, she made this one as well!
I am in awe of such talent!
What an amazing group of quilters!

Thank you all for letting me be a part of your show!
